Obama’s daily schedule goes online

The world gets a sneak peek into the day-to-day schedule of President Obama in the latest move to make Obama’s presidency the most transparent ever.

Obama’s and Vice President Biden’s daily schedules went online Monday for your curiosity-driven, RSS-following, calendar-adding reading pleasure. The calendar, updated daily, lets you track Obama from his morning briefing in the Oval Office to an afternoon press statement in the Rose Garden to a nighttime fundraising dinner at a local hotel (and that’s just today in Washington).

What serves up tantalizing clues for the press reads like a reality show splurge for Obama fanatics. Already, I’m hooked. What do you think?

  1. I think the person who identified supporters of the president as “”fanatics” should be held publicly accountable.

  2. Recent Wikileaks are certainly embarrassing for the US Government and offers an window of opportunity to the world to make an opinion about the stated policies and actual practices of the oldest democracy. Though there should be cohesion in the policy and practice but geopolitical interests often dictate the actions which may not be in unison with the stated principles. I am by any chance is not advocating the duality or devition from the thoughts and actions.

Today whole world watches the USA Government with great interest when it is related to war on Terror in general and performance of Obama Administration in particular for the obvious reasons that the President Mr. Obama is seen as one of the world citizens first and President of the United States later.

Entire humanity has a hope that Mr. Obama will bring some succour to the world population be it in USA, India or Afghanistan.

India has been the victim of Aggression from the era BC. Invaders came to India for booties through the centuries be it Huns, Mangols, Greece and Mughals because India was contributing 40% of the world GDP. It has seen all and worst of it is the social and demographic aggrassion by the Islamic invaders and lately by the Christianity in the name of education and developement till mid 20th century.

Pakistan, from the day of its birth 14 August 1947 (Not independence from British, as they never fought for it except freedom from the Hindus or a separate homeland for Muslims) has been trying to even out with its mother nation and fought three bitter wars (1947,1965 and 1971) and lost its Eastern wing, now Bangladesh in 1971. Though they blame it on the Hindus of Bangladesh and India for creating and fomenting the idea of an independent nation. A cursory look at the policy of exploitation and Economic factfile of Pakistan Government would reveal the deviation from the policy of equality for all its citizens and thus Bangladesh was an inevitable reality.

Sheer failure to bring India to terms, pakistan has had launched unstatable state policy of ” bleeding by thousand cuts” to annex Kashmir of which a major chunk (POK) is under its illegal occupation since the Raiders moved in 1947. Unfortunate but true, Pakistan remained most of its time under the dictatorship, right from Iskander Mirza to Gen Musharraf. The absence of Khaki in Pakistan is not a rule but an exception.
Even if the civilians do claim the power and profess democracy, reality is that they rule with proxy. These are all known to the policy makers in Capitol Hill but still Pakistan remained a strategic ally through the generations.

Indo-US relations from the era of Nehru to Indira Gandhi remained just diplomatically cordial. Thus, Pakistan was important for neutralising the communist forces. Move of USSR in Afghanistan bolstered the relationship and US inclination towards Pakistan is understanable. Though, it appears to skewed if seen through the Indian prism, but for the policymakers in Washington, DC, it was a neccessary evil.

But today the situation is different. In the unipolar world, USA could mobilise the multi national forces to Iraq and Afghanistan with little diplomatic efforts to bring the member nations of the UN to agree to its proposal. Then, why USA should be siding with Pakistan which is defacto an epicentre of world terror? Well, it needs base to operate in Afghanistan. But should Pakistan be allowed to wage war against USA itself under its very patronage! Should USA continue to pay for killing of its own soldiers and citizens by Taliban and other extremists who are funded, trained by the ISI. Money paid out to Pakistan for being an strategic ally in its War against Terror be allowed to be siphoned to feed the machines of Terror which are attacking India, USA and other western nations every now and then with impunity and Pak Government is getting away! These questions are obviously being raised by the people in India and I am sure in USA people must be asking these uncomfortable questions to their Government.

I personally feel that there is a need to have WILL to eradicate this menace from the face of the earth, which is very much possible without compromising national interests of USA in the region. But this will certainly not come by preaching and practising different principles of statecraft. Geopolitical importance of Pakistan , if at all we want to call this piece of land with this name, to US will remain high but is it so difficult that USA can not protect its geopolitical interests without this rougue nation?

We, as a world citizen, would like to request to the US Government and Mr. President to take a call.
