It was a very festive atmosphere at the White House November 24 as the Obamas hosted their first official state dinner to welcome India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur. More than 400 guests, dressed in tuxedos and gowns, attended the dinner, which included a musical performance by Jennifer Hudson.
State dinners are a “really important part of our nation’s diplomacy,” Michelle Obama said before the event. “Throughout history, they’ve given U.S. presidents and the American people the opportunity to make important milestones in foreign relations.”
“These dinners and events are really critical to what we do internationally, and they’ve helped build stronger ties with nations as well as people around the world,” the first lady said.
You can see video of the dinner on the White House Web site.

well obama is gonna have to send more troops to Iraq and Afghanistan to get the republicans to vote on health care bill .
The ONLY way republicans can vote on obama’s health care is Obama MUST send more of our troops to Iraq and Afghanistan
The republicans WILL not vote on obama’s health care unless obama kisses the republican’s butt and send our men and women to die in a fake war that the republicans and dick cheney put us in. the republicans send our troops to kill and murder innocent iraq women and children and women. NO WONDER THE REPUBLICANS HATE OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE. ONLY IF OBAMA CAN SEND MORE TROOPS THEN THE REPUBLICANS CAN VOTE FOR OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE.

Dear President Obama.
I am a white American and I want to congratulate you on what a terrific job you are doing. People forget that the country was in deep trouble due to Bushes misconduct. I am grateful to see a honest family man take charge of our country. You have earned the respect of many Americans along with other world leaders. I thank you. Jean Ledoux RN,BSN
