President Obama visited a solar power plant in Arcadia, Florida today, the largest of its kind in the United States. The plant provides electricity for the entire city.
To realize the full potential of solar plants, the United States needs to modernize its electrical grid, which “runs on century-old technology,” Obama said. He said it is “time to build a clean-energy superhighway” that can deliver power to people across the country in the most affordable and efficient way possible.”
The president said his administration is making the largest-ever investment in the electric grid, in the form of 100 grants totaling $3.4 billion. These grants will go to companies or cities to help them install smart-grid technologies. A fact sheet about this investment is available on the White House Web site.
Not very familiar with smart grid technologies? America.gov has a ton of material on the topic, you can check it out here.

It was just terrific to see our president standing in front of those solar panels, and saying what he did.
That truly is what is needed to get the country back on track … big public projects, that I might add are also very needed. Projects that hire lots of people, projects that are visible and that make like easier, and more in line with sanity!
Thank you President Obama. Keep up the good work.
The change is obvious.
PS. Lieberman is in the wrong party!

Progress that matches times, environmental friendly and affordable, also generating employment with recovery on investments – thanks to men of technology who should be proud of their works complimenting their President digitally on it for making the old technology of grid in to the new setting an example for others of the world in sharing on energy and its technologies and plans related with it in the 21st century.
Well, it is good morning where I am placed with my salutes to Sun for this comment.
I am a poor writer not knowledgeable on all material fronts and I just write to please myself to remain in good spirits. Thank you all for bearing with me as the human of life.

It’s a great job. I really hope one day people from urban city to countryside can use the solar energy.

i think you should do something about our media and maybe filter the television in some way for all our young children coming up for it takes a whole comunity to raise a child and they will take over and need to be brought up right. our comunity is getting worste and worst each generation and if we dont do something now it will be to far messed up to turn back and fix.

It’s good to see the White House taking a leadership role, but more needs to be done in Washington to trim up!

I am glad to see that we are trying to pursue a more efficient and clean source of energy. Starting small such as the electric grid will eventually lead to bigger and better technologies and ideas. Hopefully no corporate b.s. gets involved because this is very important for our country’s future and the future of the world.
Thanks for the post.
