Obama’s plan for health care reform is not a pretty picture. I like my healthcare just the way it is. I don’t want to participate in ObamaCare!
There are several major tax increases included, most of which violate the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. In the end this will result in an income tax rate of 45%, and a capital gains rate of over 25%. It’s more than that when you factor in that this surtax is not on taxable income, but on adjusted gross income. Factoring that plus state income tax in means that the top rate will exceed 50%, and the capital gains rate will exceed 30%.
I’m single and employed full time, because I feel that everyone should be self-supporting, or plan ahead for later years. I spend my money wiser than many my age, and I am still barely able to make ends meet.
In kindergarten we learn to Just Say No. I urge you all to JUST SAY NO to Obama’s health care plan.

This economic crisis is sensitising us that we cannot live in the same old way. Our consumer balloon has exploded. A lesson need to be learned here. Obama hasn’t been in office long enough to make an impact. He needs to show clear direction in terms of managing the economy and demonstrating clear fiscal policy – implementing measures to not only rectify the quagmire it’s in at the moment but to plan for the future.
First of all, I believe President Obama is doing – and has been doing, a terrific job, given the enormity of the task that he inherited from the previous administration.
However, there seems to be one thing lacking – a lesson I learned as a teenager growing up in the early 40′s, as the United States was forced to absorb a tremendous defeat at Pearl Harbor. Fear gripped our nation, at least, the community where I lived as most families feared their sons would be called to service – and their memories of soldiers returning from WWI were still in their minds. It was not a pretty sight.
Then, our President came over the radio encouraging ALL of us to join in the war effort and offered a wide range of things we could do to serve our nation.
Therein are the key words that stimulated our interests and assured us of an eventual victory – ALL OF US, and SERVE OUR NATION.
I believe they are missing – today.
It is not just the un-employed, even the auto workers, that need our government’s assistance. What is more important that the rest of us be encouraged to help.
It is not just a matter of finding a job, it is finding an opportunity to help – and we ALL need to be inspired to lend what we have to the greater cause.
We tend to look on Washington as ittle more than a den of bureaucrats – a word that does not fit well in the vocabulary of most Americans. What I see are thousands of well intentioned experts in their line of work – who need to be “stimulated” to offer their suggestions as what they believe the average person can do to help us throw off this mantle of doubt and despair. I believe they could not only help to reinvigorate our people today, but also alter the future for all of us.
Great idea, but will this work over the long run?
I do not aware about how president Obama is handling the economy in the USA, because I’m not natal from that country. I do agree that … ” nations’ economies are connected and how financial problems must be tackled on a global scale”… And would like to reffer specifficaly on this sentence, with few words. Maybe, and I hope so, president Obama could make the countries to be united, by international laws, based on “the difference” diffferencial laws, based on the upcomings of the families, to affort : education, social services, health services, taxes, etc..
First af all to organize the world, I do think, the goverments needs also international laws for the presidents, and prime ministers, those laws should be appprove per majory of votes by this International president committe, then it will be easier, in a democrathic way to expulse the “undisires dirigents” wich promote hate and death to people. With also an International security group (comando, taff people) Maybe this will explote in war, but, and just because everything is a long proccess in our World. In the future the people in mand will be afraid of this kind of laws.
Secondly, we need an International economic sensus, and then global economic laws, as well, based in the same principle I wrote before. And all this just because nearly in time we will pass to the new era of just Monopolies in earth and the major number of citizens in the World will be slave again, and this without any difference of race, sex, or religion. It is easy to organize, and that is just what Mr. Obama, needs to do because development means organization, and our world it is very far from that. I have wrote the begining of some protocols, to unite the World.
We must be supported him for all his effort, especially for US economic recovery.
The man is proving to be a disaster. Thank God there are Blue Dog Democrats to put the brakes on this radical socialist. He will single-handedly give control of congress back to the Republicans if he doesn’t put his antena up and gage how Americans are beginning to see him (for what he really is). Most of us don’t want any of what he’s selling, no matter that he can sell pork to a Muslim and make him enjoy it. If he isn’t stopped he will go down in history as a complete disaster for the United States. Still, those who worship this cult-like polititian will stay by his side no matter what comes from his radical policies.
human beings are damn interesting. obama isn’t even a year in office and what he is advocating is for the good of the majority Americans. exclusivity is the mother of crises like the current global credit crunch. why cant we all learn to at least share a few basics?
The scariest thing about Obama is his total lack of fiscal discipline. Massive government spending at the best of times is bad news for the economy, let alone during what could be the worst recession in history. His team is weak, and he himself is quite weak and fickle minded – still blaming George Bush for everything. You can tell the signs a great leader by his first 3 months in office. People snipe about Bush, but Obama could never handle 9-11 the way Bush did. This man hasn’t even solved ONE problem yet let alone a full blown crisis.
obama is still new in his leadership,let us give him time. he is a visionary leader and a man of principles. He will do the best and you people give him support and time to implement his strategies.

Likewise if Obama is under probe, it is but natural because he has come in with the trump card of change that many do not seem to be relishing. There is a famous English saying “old habits die hard” and for people who are stuck with that inwardly, wisdom can only convey “respect the President, allow him to make mistakes and also allow him to correct on those to become a metal of its kind rarer than gold for life in this global changing trend of life”. For that America as country is required to see itself internally as well as globally.

I think President Obama is doing a fabulous job given the amount of challenges he had to deal with from when he took office. Unfortunately the GOP having realised how unpopular they are now they are looking for every mistake and weakness in the President to try and gain points on him. I personally think we are at time where playing politics or trying to gain points on each other isn’t the solution. Polticians needs to put their heads together and deal with the issues that are troubling for example the economy and the war in Afghanistan. This isnt a time for trying to prove who is smart and who is popular, its a time to deal with real issues. Thousands of people are loosing their jobs every week and pointing fingers isn’t gonna help. Its easier for people to say what they want when watching from a distant but most people haven’t got a clue what these challenges involve.
When I start working again, only then will I approve of the way the President is handling the economy. It’s that simple.

In the country where I originally came from, Norway, government health care is so unsatisfactory; people are buying extra health insurance to get into special hospitals with the best doctors, so they can get the best care without waiting in line.
Sounds like the system we already have here in the U.S. I don’t want to change it either.

Obama inherited one of the worst crises since the great depression of the thirties. The economic one combined with a global political one thwt was deepened by 10 years of Bushism.
There has been a historical trend where the gap between the rich and poor countries has been widening. The USA with 6 percent of the world’s population consumes 25 percent of the world’s resources. The USA because of the way credit operates has been living on potential future earnings. beyond their means.
The structure of the global economy has become addicted to overconsumption by some countries the USA being the prime one. If the consumption levels fall it spell disaster.
The gap between the rich and the poor in the USA has been widening. Real wages of the workers have been falling over the years.
A huge percentage of the newly created wealth went to one percent of the population. Eighty percent of the population got only a small percentage. I am not stating what the percentages are for you would find it unbelievable.
The problem is that utilizing the legal person “the Company” the shareholders are insulated. They get their dividends over the years and if the company gets into problems it declares bankruptcy or as is happening the state chips in with tax payers’ money to bail them out to save jobs. The big share holders still have their dividends in their private bank account.
Because of the structured shift in wealth the vast majority do not have the money to buy what is in the bonds though they need it. The rich with a disproportionate amount of the wealth cannot consume what is in the bond and so we have a particular form of over production which prevents profits from being realized. Because of this form of overproduction workers are laid off. This further reduces demand.
The over 200 poor third world countries cannot buy from the developed countries because they do not have the income.
The states intervention to own and control is objected to on ideological grounds, as the press and the publishing houses are controlled by about five major corporations that control over 60 percent of the world’s wealth. Their control over the minds of people is understood.
A lot of education is necessary. We must attempt to relook at the situation. Our expectation must be reigned in. We must relook at the idea of state ownership even though we have been conditioned to reject this. The performance of the private sector has feft a lot to be desired and shows how inefficient it can be. Unbridled private sector does not equate to democracy. They are necessary but can we allow them to have such a disproportionate control over our resources and our lives.
We have been taught by the corporate media that state ownership will always be inefficient. We must debate this with an open mind.
It is the vast majority of workers who are suffering and we must enter and enhance this debate.
The solution is not easy. It may call for structural changes that would be opposed by even those who would possibly benefit because of the way they have been socialized/educated.
Obama needs support, not criticism. We may all have contributed to the problem. Wall Street certainly did are we to continue trusting them to take care of the future.
