President Obama welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the White House May 28. Not surprisingly, the leaders’ discussions focused on “how we can advance peace in the Middle East,” Obama said. Ten days before, he met with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu.
“As I’ve said before, I’ve been a strong believer in a two-state solution that would provide the Israelis and Palestinians the peace and security that they need. I am very appreciative that President Abbas shares that view,” Obama said. One step toward this solution includes the Palestinian government strengthening security in the West Bank, Obama said.
A transcript of the leaders’ comments is available on America.gov.

the meet between president obama and the plestine president mohmood abbas is apparantly welcome.since; all american goverments hitheto helped and encourged isreal in achieving its objectives as also to safegaurd its interests; it will thus be hilirous task for president obama to beak off the tradition and bring the isreal within the terms of peace and the settlement.president nathayahu termed the two state concept childish at american soil itself.there is realy no prospective hope tht isreal is ready to accept any political change at the region.let us hopefor the good. thx

Israel many times have demonstrated his will for peace and for political decisions.
I think, it is impossible to say the same about Palestinian officials.
Terror was only answer.
Let President Obama get a interpreter of any Arab’s TV program for their people and especially for kids - it’s only the propaganda of hate and antisemitic propaganda.

Hi, Michelle,
A welcome step taken by Obama unlike his predecessors. But here he need to be more carefully while proceed further to find an amicable solution, since it is a very sensitive issue since many years. The president Obama shall leave the negotiations for the palestinians and israelis. Surely president Abbas and Bibi Netanyahu are old enaf to know what to do to achieve peace for the people of Israel and Palestine. Israel is not in a hurry to make an agreement with the reprezentative , that is lucking mandate from the entire palestinian population. It would be a very big mystake to impose a solution on Israel. Palestinians must make first peace between themselves and only then , they can expect agreement with the israelis.

Obama is the best that can happen at this critical state of America’s world Leadership.
President Barack Obama appears an acceptable midwife of a critical World affair such as Palestanian/Isrealis Issue. Obama, walking tall like a good actor who quit the stage before the death of the last ovation will do well if he can finally broker PEACE between the two sister states and i wish him success.
