Speaking to a group of teens at a women’s and children’s center in Washington, Michelle Obama talked about what it is like to be first lady. “It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had,” she said.
The participants asked Michelle Obama about issues like education and immigration. One interesting question came from a student who asked the first lady, “why did you want to come out here to meet us?”
Michelle Obama explained that as a new resident of the nation’s capital, she and her husband feel it is important to be involved in their community.
“We were taught that you have to get to know the community that you’re in, and you have to be a part of that community, you have to get to know it in order to, you know, actively engage in it. And D.C. is our community now, it’s our home.”
Many other Americans will be learning more about the first lady in the coming weeks. The latest issue of Vogue hits newsstands today, featuring a cover story about Michelle Obama. She is the second first lady, following Hillary Clinton, to grace the cover of the popular fashion magazine.
Full text of Michelle Obama’s remarks are available on the White House Web site.

Imposing 25% Import Tax on all goods to the USA would accomplish a world of good.
First the debt problem with China would begin to heal. Second USA products would gain some of the market. Third it would level the unfair advantage of closed foreign markets to USA products that charge 97% Import taxation.
Compliance with Laws governing the sale of products would also benefit USA workers. Foreign violations of Copy Right,
Safety, and Patent Laws defeat the USA economy.
Responsible Fiscal Policy will someday recognize Unregulated Foreign Imports are not cheap when the affect is a colapsed economy.

Obama is the great person I am a big fan of him. Mr. and Mrs Obama draws grass-roots supporters because they seen as a different kind of candidate and because they have successfully used new ways of getting people involved, said Richard Niemi, a political scientist at the University of Rochester.
