For months, both presidential candidates have been using short television, radio and Internet advertisements to woo voters. But soon Americans will be able to catch a longer message from Democrat Barack Obama in the form of a 30-minute television ad.
The Obama campaign has purchased half-hour time slots for the evening of October 29 on at least two national networks. The 8 p.m. slot will allow his campaign to produce an uninterrupted, detailed message to voters. Obama is not the first presidential candidate to try this tactic. One of the first half-hour political commercials was given by then vice presidential candidate Richard Nixon in 1952, in what later became referred to as the “Checkers” speech. The last candidate to take this approach was Independent Ross Perot in 1992.
The Obama campaign also is trying some new advertising methods. Those who watch satellite television provided by the Dish Network might have channel-surfed past channel 073-00, the “Obama Channel.” The channel, paid for by the Democratic candidate’s campaign, airs Obama advertising 24 hours a day. And those playing video games on the popular Xbox system might notice something interesting on their screen – advertisements for Obama. Xbox users have spotted Obama billboards in racing games and Obama messages on scoreboards in football games.
Candidates use advertising tools as a way to “brand” themselves to voters. For more, see “U.S. Presidential Nominees Market Themselves to Voters.”

• Indeed, the USA election is the concern of the people of the United States of America not any other countries people. In reality USA is the only supper power of the present global order. UAS foreign policy dictates the peace, stability and economic & business activities of the rest of the world that is why almost all people of the world including my countries people are enthusiastic about the election. USA should show the to all nations of the world that she is committed to democratic ideals and values and moral concern so that she will keep the status-quo of world leadership. Should develop trust that the country is discharging its leadership in more responsible way where her action is supported by countries of the world. USA should demonstrate that, she is working to make the World a better place for humanity but not only for national interest. USA election is no only the national election but also it has an international perspective too. The USA voters when they choose their president should take into account both domestic issues and their country’s interest and role in the world. They should consider also the opinion of the rest of the world. They are supposed to look critically at the actions of the past. If one takes these issues under consideration with no doubt the Obama will qualify for the post.

I believe politicians and other public figures should accept the fact that, though the old traditional media is still effective, the new media is something they shouldn’t leave out with. I guess we can say that in order to be fully effective in the field of marketing anything or anyone, we have to be multi-traditional when it comes to media approach.

I believe that although multimedia had a huge influence of his election and other communication success Mr Obama understands the importance of face to face solid relationship building. He is a master at establishing relationships strategically to achieve his objectives in the interest of the greater society.
