Barack Obama unveiled his new plan on October 13 in Toledo, Ohio. His plan calls for suspending taxes on unemployment benefits, allowing people to withdraw up to $10,000 from their retirement accounts without penalties and giving a two-year tax break to businesses that create new jobs.

John McCain announced his new plan on October 14 in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Like Obama, he called for suspending taxes on unemployment benefits. McCain’s $52.5 billion plan also calls for reducing taxes on retirement accounts and lowering capital gains taxes.
