No matter whom the American people select, the next U.S. president will play an influential role in shaping our world. That’s why Campaign Trail Talk wants to know what you think. When Americans debate who their next president should be, they are examining the candidates’ positions on the economy, the war in Iraq, security, international relations and the future of the environment among other issues.
What issues matter to you and who do you think will do a better job addressing these issues – John McCain or Barack Obama? Post your comments below.

By all means Democracy must remain the victor. Let us not forget the Democracy of our lives. Let us not forget the lives lost for Democracy. Democracy can only be the real leader of any country. A head of state is a head of state. And to choose I will choose Obama(by a huge huge margin over any other). I choose a new direction for th USA and as an Ally countryperson I would support Obama in any way I could). I am scared of gun toting ex military and or right winged people. Not that I don’t have respect for them. I just feel the world has had enough of that harsh mentality and doesn’t need it again ever really. Harsh, tough mentalities are best left to the military tactical or troopers at war.
We need wise, Intelligent and understanding people in the worlds leadership positions. We need change more than you know. The USA needs Obama more than you know. From the outside of the USA people are questioning the values inside the USA. the global perception of the USA has been jaded considerably over the last Bush years. I hope you all vote for Obama. I know I would.. Only then will you be able to turn to the next new page of your new chapter.
God bless and may you find the course.

Its important for USA to have a president who will encourage dialouge between and among the nations and would avoid being a “trigger-happy” person like the current president. George Bush’s policy, not only have destabilized the world, it contributed to the spread of terrorism across the nation, made USA unsafe and a country about which the outside world largely looks with scepticism and distrust. An intelligent, diplomatic and peace loving person is the need of the time who can bring back the true American image. If these are to be achieved, I sincerely believe Barack Obama is the person who may be able to reassure the world that USA is not a trigger-happy nation and engage in dialogue with the states with whom USA has soured its relationship because of its thoughtless and reckless approach of engaing militarily and being bullish. If the same old policy of George Bush is continued it will be another four years of torments and chaos, economic and political disaster leading to a very uncertain world. Its strange that USA citizens made a collossal blunder of electing a president like George Bush who only created enemies and tensions across the globe. Sanity and good sense are urgently needed for the world. At the end of the day it is the American citizens to decide who will lead them .

My candidate would be Obama, simply because he understands that the world we live in is like a big ship, no matter where you drill a hole, when it sinks we are all going to sink with it.
Americans need a President who can restore its credibility in the world, you cannot achieve anything by force, specially when your motives are selfish. America is not great because it has a nuclear bomb and the world knows that it can use it, if that is the case than it is not greatness it is bullying and as we saw in Vietnam that when you push people to the limit you leave them with no choice but to retaliate. Now is the time for giving back, sharing and puting America amongst the God fearing nations, job which Obama and his party knows is not easy but needs to be done URGENTLY.

First, this year election is really interesting. Everything can happen, everything can change. No matter who wins, White House will see the change. Black President or women VP. This is really huge.
I am writing from abroad, that’s why I am not so sharp in my opinions about candidates. Few months ago I was leaning towards Obama. I started slowly changing my mind after his trip to Europe and his famous Berlin speech. I understood what he wants to achieve is to make USA a copy of Europe. And that’s not what my vision of America is.
Now I think McCain is a better choice, but still not the best Republican I could see in White House. I hope he can fix economy sticking to pragmatism and free market ideas. I supported Iraq war and still think that it is not a failure - actually I think America stopped something in Middle East before it was able to grow. So, that’s another point why I’m leaning for McCain. Oh, and of course - Sarah Palin - she’s so charming. Nearly as good as Obama, whose voice and look alone could turn many people Democrats. Well, whoever wins, will have to challenge major problems. And from what I see, both candidates are able to handle them - although in other ways.

It’s time for “change!” I believe Barrack Obama is the man to do it for our country to get us on the path to bringing America to where we should be today. I am hoping Hillary voters will not be swayed by McCain’s strategic move of adding Palin as his VP choice. Although, I am not against having a woman as VP, I rather it would be Hillary representing the Democratic party. I hope to see Barrack Obama as President and Joe Biden as our VP representing America!

I don’t trust McCain. He’s aligned with Bush but seems to be willing to shift around just to get elected. I couldn’t imagine having Palin for president. She is very young, very right wing, and not very knowledgeable as far as I can tell. There were plenty of more qualified women he could have chosen for the position. His choice was political, but it will backfire if Republicans realizes the risk in handing over the white house, potentially, to this person. yeah, we would get change, but what kind of change? Impossible to tell with such a short resume.
Neither one of them has anything to say about the economy or how to keep jobs in NAFTA.
The Obama/Biden ticket is extremely intelligent, strong, and packed with the right kind of experience in my opinion.

One thing I would like the American electorates to understand is that, the decisions they make at home will surely affect the rest of the world.
The least any decent being on plant earth would want is to have another trigger happy President whose foreign policies would be to invade other countries in the name of fighting the bad guys in rogue states. Believe me these myths of cold war days are over; therefore the rhetoric of the east and west divide, is a nineteenth century myth and, a myth of the past. It doesn’t belong to the twenty-first century.
The World does not need the foreign policies of the nineteenth century. The nineteenth century policies will lead us nowhere than disastrously destabilising the World peace.
Any decent American electorate would not want to relive the nineteenth century foreign policies of the past.
Historically the Republican Party is the party of the elite/the Old boy club and so, do not really understand grassroot issues.
John McCain personally is a very decent man but, to be honest I do not know what his policies are?
The American electorates are not interested in personality but, on sound economic policies and, sound foreign policies that would bring prosperity at home and, peace in the Middle East and, the rest of the World. This is what the American electorates would wish for.
At least we all know what Barack Obama promised to deliver if elected as the President of the United States.
The world need healing and so, the American electorates should look at their economy at home and, the present American foreign policies around the world before choosing the next President.
Personally I believe Barack Obama economic and foreign policies will bring prosperity at home, peace and stability in the Middle East and, around the rest of the World.
The World does not need ideoligies of the past. For goodness sake this is the twenty-first century. Wake up to the future electorates.

Obama will be my choice because he is democratic and he will listen to other people’s opinion even when they do not agree on everything. Sarah Pailin believes in the use of veto, she believes in guns, she believes in killing stuff in this age and time when animal rights activist are very concerned about killing of some animals, She believes that living 700 miles from Russia makes you an expert in foreign policy, I can go on and on but I think America deserves better.

Obama ofcourse! McCain is sooooo desperate to win he changed his views and values. First by selecting Palin and then stealing the “change” slogan from Obama…I too want to change…as if I am not a member of the GoP and the GoP hasn’t been in the white house for the past 8 years.
With this action u must ask what comes first Campaign or Country? What is more important Ethichs or Elections?
This is a man that lost to Bush in 2000 and has been desperate for the past 8 years to be President. America could vote for a man just to give him what he wants or it could just decide to go for the other product instead of the tried and tested product that hasnt worked for the past 8 years.
I don’t get it…Americans are terrified of fundamental Muslims within America and across the world and want to vote for a fundamental angry woman using religion to conceal her political ambitions?

As an outsider (British) looking into this Presedential election, I can’t help but feel the real issues are not being confronted by both parties. There is a lot of ‘razzmataz’ with the party conferences (as we call them in the UK), but there is also a lot of name calling, image questioning. But the real issue is who of the two candidates: McCain or Obama has the potential to make a difference to AMERICAN lives over the next 4 years in office.
Yes, it is important for the USA to play a key role in foreign policy, and to help us to contain terrorism and to help other countries to live in peace and prosperity, but there will always be a natural disaster, there will always be military coups in South-East Asian/Central/South American Countries, there will always be civil wars in these less developed countries. But let us not patronise these people with our western views and impose ourselves on them. This is a free world and people should be able to live their lives as they wish, abiding by general governance of peace to all people.
I understand there are extremists in all walks of life, from every religion. But let us not live in a world of terror and fear, and let the new President of the United States of America lead the USA to domestic prosperity, lead the millions of ordinary Americans from poverty, allow the Middle Classes to prosper, and allow people to live in harmony with one and other. Surely the new President should concentrate on their own country before leading the charge on other areas (Russia, N.Korea, Iran, Pakistan).
And for the record, I feel that Senator Obama is of the right age, of the right mind-set, and could provide a 2/3 term government of sustained change rather than a candidate who would be well into his 80’s should he be re-elected. The USA doesn’t need a 4-year wonder, because it will take a lot more time than that, and I think Obama (on policy alone, and not race) should be given the opportunity by the American electorate to do this.
Also, a final point to consider. As for the VP, although fiesty and ‘typical everyday hockey mom’ Palin does provide a breath of fresh air, should anything happen to a ‘President McCain’, could this woman really be left to run the USA? I’m afraid not. I think it would be an absolute disaster for the US economy, and for the US as a whole. Joe Biden has many more years experience and it is something critical should the top dog go down (be it illness, accident, assasination… all viable eventualities).
On a final note, it is a shame Senator Clinton couldn’t overcome Senator Obama in the Democratic Party Presidential Nominations, because I feel that she would have been a much stronger President that both Obama and McCain put together.
Oh well, what do I know, I’m just a limey (now living in Spain!!).
God speed America.

Obviously most of the people reading this know nothing about democracy or us history. Let me give you all a lesson in our history. America is a constutional republic not a pure democracy as many believe. Republicanism and the republican party is at the core of our society. We are system of checks and balances that actually guards against mob rule and pure democracy. We may use a democratic process to elect our congressmen and women but because mob rule is dangerous we have an electoral college to prevent the appointment of an unqualified president. Republicanism is thus at the core of what most people call USA style democracy. Liberty is ensured by the constitution and bill of rights. The second amendment of our bill of rights is the final check against tyranny toppling the Republic.
To appreciate the true spirit of the Republican party one must know that Abraham Lincoln was Republican. Many things the republican pary does might not seem popular at the time but history hows that the Grand old Party has rightly earned it title in our history. The Democrats want to undo this system of government first by doing away with the electoral college. The world should be very concerned about what will happen if America becomes a pure democracy. Let there be no mistake, if Obama wins this could happen. We may not be perfect but 230 years we have been the bastion of liberty across the globe. Generations of people have come to America for liberty not for the handouts recently promised by the Democratic party. Sometimes the writing on the wall as not clear across the ocean but on closer examination it becomes clear. America must elect John McCain. He may not be perfect but he respects the constitution and will serve it well. Because Obama has made remarks indicating that he does not truly respect the constitution he cannot be elected. Sorry.
McCain will bring the change the world wants but it will not happen over night. So please be patient with the GOP and republicanism. We have been a good neighbor and partner to our allies for over 230 years and we will continue to do so. You will start to see the benefits of the Iraq war over the coming months as the dust settles in there and oil prices come down and the dollar regains value. History is on the GOPs side but the world must be patient with us. Better days really are just around the corner. The kind of change Obama promises really is not needed and really will not benefit the world in the long run.

Following the election race from the UK, the first US Presidential election I have ever taken interest in, I am quickly coming to the conclusion that a disproportionally large section of the media and US electorate are totally out of touch and politically naive. It seems as if this large section of US electors and media commentators are totally unaware of America’s power and influence in the world. How could such a, supposedly, educated and informed society even contemplate nominating a 72 year old person for president. Mr McCain may have been a bright and able person in his prime, but surely he is past it. How many 72 year olds occupy senior positions in the US military? Or are even in the services? Choosing Sarah Palin as a running mate, is like the leader of the military asking a private to be his second in command. I just see the McCain/Palin ticket as a complete gimmick. However, I feel Obama has the presence, inellect and savvy to be the leader of the “world”. If the McCain Palin team is elected, we can say: Goodby America, goodby world!

My 1st point is this:
White guys had been the president of the United States for the past 100 years without any African-American president.
If I were the republicans and Mcain, I’d give Obama this great chance and opportunity to rule for one term as a minority African-American.
My 2nd point is that; 72 yr-old Mcain could have retired from government and pave way for young ones to make their own living.
My 3rd point is that Mcain had got his three awards or prizes for serving Americans and suffered as a prisoner of war, he could have been very grateful for the protection and life that God had given him.
My 4th and final point is that all Africans, Asians and majority of Europeans love Obama and if Obama looses this election to Mcain, these countries and continents will hate America and Mcain administration.
Thanks and may God be with us.

All of you speak of McCain being old but have any of you taken a look at his 96 year old mother? This man has good genetics and could easily live to be ninety plus too. People are living longer and working longer. We are seriously considering raising the retirement age because people are living so much longer than they did when it was first established. I personally know and work with many professionals who are well into their eighties and still going strong (some of them even ride their bicycles to work. We have congressmen who are in their eighties. None of the Democrats are worried about that liberal democrat Ted Kennedy voting on issues of national importance even though he has been diagnosed with brain tumor!! This age issue is a distraction perpetuated by the media and in any other circumstances would be grounds for a law suit for age discrimination; this blatant hypocrisy surrounding this amazes me.

Obama will be the best choice; unfortunately he chose a warmonger attack dog Biden as his running mate. Let’s hope he keeps him on a tight leash. McCain is a confrontational personality while his running partner is a religious simpleton who believes in the Jewish Book of Fairy tales, talking snakes, and book banning. Remember Hitler banned books and burned them and that was followed by people in the ovens. McCain might as well have resurrected –sorry cloned Tammy Fay as his running mate or even Paris Hilton and his supporters would not have questioned his choice. What does this tell you about the electorate? They are poorly educated, steeped in propaganda, and live in fear hoisted on them by a government that thrives on confrontation.

A voter for McCain-Palin must accept that there is over a 10% likelihood Palin will become president within the next four years. Do people seriously think she has the training and experience, let alone the skills, to be president?? Surely many experienced politicians should be way ahead of her as a potential president?
For a patient with a prior melanoma that had already previously spread through the lymphatic system like Mr. McCain’s there is still a risk of recurrence, with secondary melanoma sometimes appearing after long periods of remission in the brain, lungs or elsewhere. Add the risk of death from other causes such as cardiovascular disease and stroke, or other malignancies, and add the risk of assassination or other conditions, and he has at least a 3% yearly risk of death. Add the risk of worsening mental function in a man in his seventies. Is it worth the risk voting for McCain-Palin??
Does America want a disabled old president, or a novice incapable of handling the role?

The troop surge when first proposed by John McCain was at odds with the letter sent to President Bush Friday by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who said an increase in U.S. forces “will only endanger more Americans” and would lead to “no strategic gain.” Many said his position on this was political suicide. The surge is now working and we are closer to getting out of Iraq thanks to John McCain. This man is prepared to lead and more importantly by this very action he has demonstrated that he knows how to win the war in Iraq; losing is not an option in this case. McCain has the experience and fortitude to be our next president.
Obama on the other hand is merely a cute young politician trying to get elected for an office which, even according to his own party member Hillary Clinton, he is not qualified for. You might like him but do you really think he is prepared to be our next president? He has only been a US senator since 2004 and he has been running a presidential campaign since 2006! How much executive experience is he getting by campaigning for president?
Obama and the other Democrats in congress do not have a military strategy other than surrender. And, if you think the Iraq war is just some Republican game to make money you should seriously stop and ask yourself this: why do both McCain and Palin have children serving in the armed services? Do you really think they want their own children to die for nothing? Or could it be that winning this war is more important than you know? Do you really think the American military puts all its cards on the table so the other side will know their strategy? Are you that naive? Do you realize what will happen to Europe if Russia or Iran end up in control all of the oil in the middle east? Russia is already flexing its muscle. Does anyone is Europe remember WWII? Would you rather deal with real bad guys or with the USA?
I really think many people who support Obama do so simply because they don’t like the war. But, since you also say you like liberty I think you should all take a moment to read your history, because those who fail to learn from it are destined to repeat it!!
Abraham Lincoln

Governor Sarah Palin has been nominated as the Republican VP not president. Her “lack of experience” is much less relevant in this case than is Obama’s since he is running for president. Unless Mccain actually dies while in office, Palin will have at least 4 years to gain experience before she assumes the office of President. Palin has served as the governor and mayor of state with a population as large as Vermont. Ironically the Democrats say Alaska is a small state but they did not use this as a negative against Howard Dean when he ran for president.
The vast majority of the arguments I am reading here are simply media hype and have no historical basis or substance. Not one of you has demonstrated a knowledge of US history or our system of governance that would give me confidence in trusting your judgement on this issue. Sorry.

Obhama is the right choice. As I think, if Obhama is elected, surely he will bring change in the world particularly with special reference to present scenario of militancy, unwanted wars, hatred, racist etc. He will also become a role models for leaders of other countries to follow him to work for development, peace & tranquality, education & healthcare, global warming and climate change, finishing of militancy and ending the unemployment among young generation etc.
He is the choice of present time, not only for america but for the whole World.
I pray to ALMIGHTY for success in his mission.

It is sad to note how “personal” the views and comments turn out to be and with words like sic “This age issue is a distraction perpetuated by the media and in any other circumstances would be grounds for a law suit for age discrimination;” from some of the people asked their views/comments above.
This are totally uncalled for and they should express tangible grounds for your comments and not war of words.
Am fully pro Obama, for so many of the optimistic comments from above in his favour.

McCain and Obama both want to cut taxes. But Obama wants to cut taxes for the middle class worker bees while McCain wants to cut taxes for the people who actualy create the jobs the workers bees have. In the end cutting taxes for worker bees who will just spend their money on foreign made products is not good the USA is not as good for the US economy as cutting taxes for big business which creates products that can be exported as well as thus contributing more to the GDP. Cutting taxes on big businesses that create US jobs is good for the US and what is good for the US is ultimately good for the rest of the world economically too.

America will never be a Democracy because democracy is mob rule. Study your history people. Did you ever see or read the Lord of the Flies? America is a constitutional republic and that is why our system of government works and the only reason Obama even has the opportunity to run for president of our great nation. Democracy is nice word but in practice it a dangerous thing that threatens liberty and human rights.

But the world isn’t voting in this election so what does its opinion matter? America is a sovereign republican nation with a constitution. If it does not behave as such but rather allows the opinions of the masses from other nations dictate who it elects as president based on popularity polls rather than the candidate’s respect for the US constitution liberty will be lost for everyone everywhere in the world. Do any of you over seas get this important little factoid??

America, is America today, Because it had chosen the Living God of Bible, Yashua, as their God and they have embrassed & belived in the saviour Yahusua(Jesus) as their Lord.
They have stood with Israel the People of God at all times.
Now things are changing, and Bible is being considered one among the other lots, heaten worship is more appealing to younger eneration, and we see a Young man about to capture the throne of dictaror of the world. He is going to act like antichrist to win world opinin at the cost of God way & truth, America is going to look like regain all its loss and, but all of sudden severe turmoil no man can control it, in turn will force her to use her weapon stock to harm the nations, a severe days await, of course Obama will be elected as i gaze through the spiritual lens.

Obama will make a good president. The USA has suffered enough under Bush. As an outsider watching CNN and other news channels i find it difficult to understand how Bush was re-elected. Fox news is one of the worst news channels i have ever watched. If Americans actually believe this one sided right wing views then I suppose the USA is condemned for another term of pro war, steal oil , kill ,kill, kill politics. Regardless of the cost to their fellow citizens.

I subscribe to Obama as a choice. In advance of the election, I have noticed solidarity being garnered from black communities in America for Obama. The request / plea, across TV stations in itself abets the wrong reasons for electing him. America’s future is more important than sending outlandish racial messages. America and the world at large should choose based on human values, not race, gender or other issues centered on bigotry. The choice should be based on concern for the future and gut-feelings about both candidates. Obama himself has stated that his race should not be a deciding factor; it should be people’s values.
What would help in deciding are:
1. International Image: Obama brings freshness, McCain a veneer of niceness with an underlay of offensiveness likely to raise tension in extremist countries.
2. Internal Policies: McCain will reduce taxes and raise oil production within the US, in conflict with America’s effort to champion environmental issues like global warming? He’s literally not creatively multiplying America’s sources of income, he’s only moving dependency on oil from foreign to domestic.
Obama wants to re-enact progressive taxation in favour of the middle and lower class masses. That will be good ultimately for GNP. But he needs to improve his economic policies.
3. Choice of VPs: The issue about experience is relative. Freshness should be untainted by old ideals. Palin made a mockery of Obama, and I was disappointed in Rudy Giuliani as well. Their approach was distasteful and with Palin as VP, she’ll step on many toes domestically and internationally because she lacks diplomatic tact in speech and approach. She’s controversial and indifferent towards people’s concerns, shrugging off the validity of questions around her person. Another issue is, is she easy to work with, can McCain handle her seeing that their speeches were quite different. McCain was smart in his attack on Obama’s campaign, questioning democratic policies without insulting the man. Palin just dipped into the mud, speaking based on emotions and not common-sense.
Biden on the other hand is as straight-talking as the Republicans and has a respected record. He’s all about people and doing what’s in their best interest. How isn’t this choice clear?
To Bimbo, imagine your dear Palin in horns with blazing red eyes. I think ruling people out because they look spooky in your mind is deciding based on the abstract and not clear-cut facts.

I have noted that many of you want America’s next president to essentially be the leader of the world and also want the American system of government in your countries. But before this can happen you first need to know exactly what it is you want and why. America is a Representative Constitutional Republic not a pure democracy. No system of government can ensure the liberty you long for by bowing to the powers of pure democracy which is essentially the same thing as mob rule. You cannot ensure individual rights and liberty if you bow to mob rule. Perhaps you should be asking our next President to help you draft a version of our constitution so all of you can have civil rights. The perceived benefits of democracy you think you long for is nothing more than a misconception. Whereas a Bill of Rights is law which overrides mob rule and thereby grants each individual legal power to enjoy their life with liberty and justice. You people need a bill of rights and the right to bear arms (which many of you currently do not have) so you can defend those rights from tyrants and mob rule. If you have these two things our next president will have a much easier job being the leader of the world. You must therefore write a constitution and form a representative republic based on our system of government. Then you will have what you call American Style government or in the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin “a republic if you can keep it”. Good luck.

For all the people who have written that Obama should be elected so that the rest of the world will like America, so that America will become more like they are - take a good look at the world outside the U.S. We want to be like Africa? Where there is starvation and disease run rampant? Where there are border wars and slaughter on massive scales?
We want to be like Europe? Where medical care is a joke? Where there are riots in almost every country on a monthly basis? Where you pay the majority of your pay in taxes and you have VERY limited rights? (though I do like they way they do vacations!!)
We want to be like China? One point 2 children per family. You say something against the govt and you end up in jail or dead.
South America? Wars, murder, poverty, slums, etc.
Think about WHY everyone wants to come here. Because of what we offer that their countries dont….freedom, opportunity, equality. The chance for a good life. Not the guarantee that everything will be “fair”, but the chance. The opportunity.
That didnt come about by making sure all the other countries happy. That came by hard work and sacrifice and blood.
Let me ask - in what other country could you all say the things against the government and not end up with someone on your door step. Not really all that many.
Obama may be a great guy. But he isnt what this country needs in a president.
Not because he is black, because he is someone who is playing to the world. Who cares about what they think more than what is good for his country.
Mcain definitely isnt “the best choice” either, but he is the best choice we have now.

This is the first time I have written on a blog, and am fascinated by the variety of views put forth here; some of which are quite harsh. I don’t believe that the US presidential election is about age or cummulative experience in public office, but about beliefs and values and who will uphold the values of the American people.
Please note, the values that have been held so dear for many years in America, have been trampled and are hard to find after 8 years of a Republican administration, as reflected by the comments our friends and neighbors around the globe. I believe that Sen. Obama will bring back the values that most Americans believe in, including collaborating with world leaders to problem solve our global issues (not taking unilateral stands) on terrorism, global warming, economics and the basic needs of developing countries. Obama will help meet the needs of the poor and middle income people in America, whereas for 8 years (and more if McCain has his way) we have poured money into the rich, the big business and the oil companies. Obama will work towards the ensuring the future of social security, more affordable health care, and access to good education. These are not values which the Republican ticket has addressed because they don’t value what the majority of Americans value. McCain IS the rich establishment and Palin is a gun-toting, anti-abortion, anti-education, creationist, ultra-conservative.
I believe that Obama is the only way to vote, not because of who HE is, but because of my FEAR for the loss of American values if we have 4 more years of Republican-policies. The concern over McCain’s age has been pooh-poohed on this blog (acknowledging the fact that a Palin president would be the ultimate disaster) and I agree that age is not the issue, but a history of malignant melanoma is a very serious factor that supports the concern about McCain’s ability to complete 4 years in office. So for all these factors, Sen Obama gets my vote and the vote of everyone in my family.

How can you call the Republicans racist when Abraham Lincoln was a Republican! You people wish for things you don’t understand. It no wonder you can’t run you own countries you don’t even take time to study history!! God helps those who help themselves. Read your history people. If Obama understood history and really was good for America he would be a Republican. The fact that he is not a Republican should make everyone question his integrity and real motives for “changing” America. He is not the real deal he a phony who believe in mob rule.

Let me start by saying I think the Republican have the ticket backwards. Although I respect Palin as a mother, and wife, I don’t feel she addresses my needs. In additon, I can’t seem to connect with McCain at all.
I think if elected, Pailin would do a better job than McCain.
Reading some of the comments, one would think that McCain can bring about a change that would benifit us all. Well, I have yet to hear specifically what McCain will do to help America.
I continue to hear about how he was a POW. Does this make him experienced in Foriegn affairs?
In the last few weeks I have heard more about Pailin and her special needs child and her 15 daughter being pregrant. So I ask, does this qualify her for Healthcare reform?
I believe that when McCain picked Pailin, he was hoping that people would vote based on emotion, idealism and sybolism.
Sorry, but this does not work for me. My vote will be to supoort Obama.
Not because of his race, but soley on what he respresents.
Obama represent all people not just black, white, rich or poor.
I believe Obama, will bring about a change that will allow Americans to use their medical insurance that they pay for monthly with out fear, that I can’t afford the doctors vist or medication.
I believe Barack will build a bridge to somewhere; somewhere were we can live the American dream without fear of loosing job, homes or business.
Also, I believe that Obama will be better at restoring relationship with foreign countries, than McCain.
Sorry, but the McCain/Pailin ticket is not doing it for me.

The survival rate for malignant melanoma is about 80%. While it may be the most dangerous form of skin cancer it is not a very dangerous form of cancer in general. By contrast the survival rate for pancreatic cancer is about 5%. And McCain has been cancer free for over 7 years which indicates he is doing just fine. The threat to America and liberty associated with Obama appointing liberal justices who legislate for the bench is far great than a president dying in office; we have lived through this before with no problems. So in total McCain’s previous bought with skin cancer is really not a major threat to our national security especially in comparison to what is stake if we do not win the war with Iraq.

American Joke
It’s unfortunate that Americans continue to focus on the artificial factors and buzzwords given to them by the media.
The reality is that the state of your economy, foreign relations and health care should be the absolute most important subject. McCain has no intention of changing health care, has an association with Bush therefore is disliked by most countries and can’t spell Economy. Probably not the right fit.
Although there are a few women who are, Sarah Palin is absolutely not qualified to become President if need be. She’s doesnt have enough experience to be the Prime Minister of Canada let alone the President of the United States. During her stint as “Mayor” of 9,000 people she was given the option of a new school, library upgrades or new hockey rink. As her sons play hockey she chose a hockey rink…?
I don’t think America realizes the amount of ridicule it is receiving concerning Sarah Palin. She tries to act as the perfect Christian. Wouldn’t the perfect Christian take this opportunity in life to take care of her poor 17 year old daughter who is pregnant and her new son who was born disabled. Add on the massive scandle concerning her abusing her power to have her sisters ex husband fired and its a recipe for disaster. Sarah Palin is a giant contradiction and distraction from what really matters and that is the real reason McCain chose her. To distract you from the important subjects of this election as he has no chance if they are the focus.
Oh by the way, if you know anyone who has ever had an abortion, she would like to throw them in jail.

America does not care about the ridicule coming from those of you over seas in countries where they think democracy is the path to freedom. You chose low hanging fruit and silly insults but you don’t even know that America is not about democracy On the contrary it is about individual rights ensured by a constitution and laws that actually prevent mob rule or as you call it democracy. When you figure this out you will understand why Obama cannot be our next president even if the masses around the world would like him to be. You see he takes and oath to defend the constitution and he can’t that if he wants to ignore it.
The reason so many other countries fail in their attempts at freedom is that they wrongly believe in democracy.

Hey Bill,
I do agree with some of your points concerning being overly social but I think more importantly you are missing the fundamental rules of engagement or “art of war” as well as it seems you are delusional as far as the quality of living in European countries such as France, Sweden, Norway, Italy and Germany.(Germany kicked USA’s [expletive deleted] in trade last year by the way) While Most importantly, the Republican government has forgotten to keep its friends close and its enemies closer and that is the biggest reflection in the Economy. (foreign investment is at an all time low)
Americas allies were betrayed by America as it went against the United Nations on the decision to invade Iraq and Bush still may be charged with war crimes. China has no respect for you anymore as you continuously borrow more money from them and it gives the impression you are weak. Trust me thats how they see it.
It’s not a matter of trying to appease the masses or the world but its a matter being in a position of power and the United States of America is not that. John McCain will continue to waste record amounts of money on Iraq and the whole world knows it. The world also wont support the war in Iraq so you can look forward to paying for it out of your pocket and borrowing more money from China weakening your country not only militarily, but economically and psychologically.

Bob are you a relative of one of the tories we tarred and feathered and then chased to Canada because they supported the British during the Revolutionary war? You sure sound like one to me.
Despite what you say, there is still no substitute for experience and Obama has none, I repeat none. He is a junior senator who has spent 2 of his 4 years in office running for president. So you think it matter that Obama can use a computer better than McCain but do also you think it matters that he did not the “common sense” or foresight to recognize that the troop surge which McCain proposed would work? Moreover Obama does not understand how great the risk of WWIII is about to become as world supplies of oil, which our military needs to defend the US and Canada from tyranny go down. We are years away from energy independence. If America does not remain in control of the global situation “Canaduh” might be part of Chiina or Russia……but that may not bother a hoser like you since philosophically socialism is just a heart beat away from communism anyway.
I have no desire to give up liberty. And whether you want to believe it or not liberty is not free. We fought to establish our republic and we will always fight to keep it whether it pleases you or not. After all there is a reason why America has been the bastion of liberty the world over for 230 years and it has nothing to do with following your rules or anyone else’s. America does does not follow it leads. So stop throwing around the meaningless talking points you heard on the news and take some time to study history.

Ib.lincoln, I think Bob from Canada has hit a nerve when he mentioned that US without it’s allies can be very lonely in the world, and when you keep mentioning history all the time then please read the book Last days of the Roman Empire or The Ottomans. I do agree with you that America is years away from becoming energy independent, whch is why it’s crucial that it keeps it’s presence in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, when you talk about WW3, it is exactly what the Democrats are trying to avoid but are not openly mentioning the prospect of it. With republican’s tunnel vision we are only heading towards ww3. Obama wants the troops out of Iraq and concentrate on Afghanistan which gives the USA strategic control of the Caspian sea ( 1/3rd of the worlds oil and gas reserves). Iraq is costing the US Billions of Dollars, that cost can be directed towards the domestic projects which would create more local jobs and a move towards energy independence. By the way why do you think that India and the Far East prefers Republicans, because they encourage sourcing out to those countries, so that companies can freely maximise their profits at the expense of local job losses. Believe me America needs Democrats for a while at least. Just like the Usa, other countries are also thinking about their future, so unless the Usa starts to be more reasnable you can forget about world peace and start preparing for the WW3, which with republicans in power will be just a matter of time. Arrogance will get you no where, humility backed by power can do wonders. Obama is my choice between the two choices.

Coming from Canaduh(Thanks Abe!) you really dont have a lot of room to talk about much at all. Crappy health care, high taxes, government restrictions. Without the misguided U.S., as Abe said, your country would be in a world of hurt.
For all the people overseas, who are so glad to give all this wonderful advice and oopinions, why dont you worry about what is happening in your country and leave America to handle its own affairs?
We really REALLY dont need your advice.

Mr Abe: who really cares if the surge worked or not, the truth is, once we leave Iraq that in a couple of months the Sunni’s/Shilites/Kurds, will be at it once again. Come on Abe, do you really believe that Iraq will be a democracy, that’s ridiculous.
We should stop been the policeman of the world and be more concerned about our economy, our education which by the way is a disgrace. A vote for McCain is a vote for Bush and these votes are from people like you, uneducated, ignorant of the facts.
Remember that under Clinton we had the largest surplus in U.S. history, under this Ham Sandwich we have 407,000,000,000, in debt.

I am not scared of starting WWIII but I am scared of losing it because we listened to you. We have invested too much into Iraq and are close to finishing the job to pull out now. To pull out now would be like throwing out the baby with the bath water.
You can’t blame the Republicans for jobs going over seas when it is they who have opposed all the rules and regulations that hurt big business. NO, rather it is the liberal Democrats fault that jobs are going over seas because big business can make money here but can in India and China where there are fewer restrictions on them. If you want jobs to come here you have to accept the pollution and other issues that are inherent to manufacturing and keep taxes on big business low so they can make money and create more jobs.

If the rest of the world which has historically demonstrated that it can’t run its own life thinks we need Obama then it is obvious we need John McCain.

abe: are you saying we should accept polluction, accept no safety standards, accept poverty wages, in hopes that business saving will trickle down to the workers. I guess you did not follow reaganomics with his trickle down therory, which did not work.

If I was an American citizen, I would vote Barack Obama. I’m for Democrats. Barack is the man to lead America and support the fight against poverty and corruption in Africa. Obama - keep up your strength, intelligence and leadership power!… JT - Maputo, Mozambique.

Heavy handed government intervention is not the way to regulate a free market. Rather let the market drive it own behavior. People who believe in green products should be allowed to buy them and vice versa. The markets have an incredible innate ability to respond to supply and demand without government regulations that restrict growth. You show me one unbiased study in economics that demonstrates unequivocally how government intervention is good for business and I will change my position on this issue. Until then my faith will remain with the power of the free market. Economic growth in the USA has done nothing but slow down since the 1970s and this correlates directly with the establishment of OSHA and the EPA.
